**California Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME)** Certified through the California Division of Workers' Compensation to perform Qualified Medical Evaluations in the California workers' compensation system. QME evaluations are performed within the evaluator's chiropractic scope of practice and areas of clinical competence.
**Certified Independent Chiropractic Examiner (CICE™)** Certified through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME). Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic Care Chiropractic services may include evaluation and management of neuromusculoskeletal complaints using methods and techniques permitted within the California chiropractic scope of practice. Depending upon the patient's clinical presentation, care may include chiropractic manipulation or adjustment, appropriate supportive therapeutic techniques, exercise recommendations, patient education, and other chiropractic methods permitted by California law. Treatment recommendations are individualized following appropriate clinical evaluation. Chiropractic care is not represented as a substitute for healthcare services that fall outside the chiropractic scope of practice.
Qualified Medical Evaluator Services
As a California Qualified Medical Evaluator, Dr. Patel performs medical-legal evaluations within the California workers' compensation system. A Qualified Medical Evaluation is separate from treating chiropractic care. The evaluator's role is to conduct an impartial evaluation, review the available medical and occupational information, and provide medical-legal opinions regarding disputed issues that fall within the evaluator's chiropractic scope of practice and areas of clinical competence. Depending upon the issues presented and the available evidence, a QME evaluation may address matters such as injury causation, permanent and stationary or maximum medical improvement status, impairment, apportionment, work restrictions, and future medical considerations when appropriately within chiropractic scope. When a disputed issue falls outside the evaluator's scope of practice or clinical competence, evaluation by an appropriately qualified physician in another specialty may be required.
